Case tapers by industry
Industry

Food & beverage

Outer-case sealing for secondary packaging, multipacks, ingredients, bottled products and dispatch cartons.

Industry

Cosmetics & personal care

Carton sealing where presentation, batch changeover and neat finished cases are important.

Industry

Household & chemical

Case tapers for boxed bottles, containers, cleaning products and warehouse-ready outer cartons.

Industry

Pharmaceutical & nutraceutical

Secondary-packaging support where controlled packing processes, labelling and dispatch presentation matter.

Industry

Ecommerce & fulfilment

Mixed carton profiles, random-size boxes, packing benches and dispatch-oriented box taping systems.

Industry

Contract packing

Flexible case taper choices for frequent product, carton, customer and changeover requirements.

Case tapers for different packing environments

Different industries put different demands on carton sealing. Food production, ecommerce fulfilment, cosmetics, household goods and contract packing teams may all need different carton sizes, tape choices, hygiene expectations, output targets and changeover routines.

Industry requirements

Specify the carton-sealing process from the product, pack and operating environment.

Industry labels are useful starting points, but the selected machine must still be proven against the actual carton, tape, packed weight and production method.

Food and drink outer cases

Check whether cartons are dry, chilled, dusty or exposed to product residue before sealing. Board surface and storage temperature can affect tape adhesion. Use representative filled cases and the intended tape during trials rather than relying on an empty dry carton.

Cosmetics and consumer goods

Presentation quality, mixed product formats and frequent changeovers may be important. Confirm where labels or printed graphics sit so that tape placement and downstream labelling do not conflict.

Ecommerce and fulfilment

Daily carton mix, order peaks, operator movement and courier cut-off times often shape the requirement. Random adjustment can reduce manual size changes, but the true carton range and sequence still need to be tested.

Manufacturing and distribution

Review how cases arrive from production, whether they accumulate before sealing and what happens before palletising. A stable transfer and clear control philosophy are necessary when the sealer becomes part of an automated line.

Questions that apply in every sector

List carton dimensions, board grade, packed weight, tape specification, closure method and target output. Add environmental conditions that may affect adhesive or machinery, but do not assume a sector name proves compatibility. Where hygiene, validation, hazardous-area or other regulated requirements apply, they must be confirmed separately against the selected equipment and site procedures.

Plan changes as well as today’s production

Include known future cartons and realistic growth where they are confirmed. It is better to identify a likely range extension during specification than to discover after installation that a common case is outside the machine’s adjustment or transfer capability.
